The Life of a Two-Week-Old

…that pretty much covers it.

…that pretty much covers it.

Last week, I paid our local library $18.20 in overdue fines. I had returned some books after their DUE DATES.
Sunday we rented Ratatouille. I had to pay $4.21 in overdue fines, because I had returned some DVDs after their DUE DATES.
In three hours, I am going to start charging this baby overdue fines. I think $20 a day is more than fair, and now it is in writing.
Today is my DUE DATE. And I am still pregnant.
Ridiculous, really, how we pregnant people (and those surrounding us) get so hung up on due dates. The day is actually considered the EDD: Estimated Date of Delivery. Estimated, meaning the baby might be born somewhere around that day. There is even a two week cushion on each side of the EDD that is considered full term. But in my mind, when you are DUE at a specific time, you are to show up on or before then. Or suffer the consequences. In this case, $20 a day.
Not that I ever follow that rule. But it’s still a rule.
BDE was prompt–one week early. Dimples was prompt– 1 1/2 weeks early. Mowgli was close–17 minutes overdue. Thao, why can’t you be more like your sister and brothers? (I just received a hearty kick in the ribs.)
